Habitat types and species of major interest

The site is forest par excellence. The central and southern part is characterized by oak forests; in gullies thrive formations related to the alliance Tilio-Acerion, while in the northern part thermophilous beech forests dominate with lime or more mesic with yew, holly and rich undergrowth. The forest fades up in the characteristic system of ledges rocky and crags that from Trabocchetto to the Pass of Thieves surrounds and supports the vast prairie summit of Mount Carpegna. (taken from http://ambiente.regione.emilia-romagna.it)
